As
Joyce Cohen wrote is the New York Time from March 23 2000 (read
the article on the home page of Funimag), the funicular of Saint
Hilaire du Touvet was my first vision of such an incline railway
when I was child. I didn't know what was these rails which was
vertically climbing up the mountain. I was very impressed and
this image was stored somewhere in my memory for many years
since I used the Sierre-Montana-Crans funicular in Switzerland
in 1985. The image of Saint Hilaire du Touvet reappeared and
it was the beginning of this passion!
Of course there is no vertical funicular but if you look at
the incline in line from the track it seems to you that it is
vertical. In fact it is just an optical illusion!
A l'époque
