The old postcard (above) shows the funicular from the top of the hill. You can notice the classical Abt siding but the most interesting characteristic of this funicular is the level crossing that you can see just where is the second cabin. Such a level crossing between a road and a funicular is very unusual but not unique, may be unique in France.

The road which crosses the track serves some houses on the other side of the line. It is a "cul-de-sac", it means that the car traffic is very low but all the same, in the 60th, a car was caught by the cabin going uphill anf found itself stuck between the two cabins of the funicular!

La carte postale ancienne (ci-dessus) montre la ligne du funiculaire depuis le sommet de la colline. Vous pouvez remarquer le classique évitement Abt mais aussi la présence d'un passage à niveau à la hauteur de la deuxième cabine. Un tel passage à niveau entre une route et un funiculaire est quelque chose de très inhabituel mais pas unique, mais certainement unique en France.

La route, le chemin plus exactement, qui traverse la voie du funiculaire dessert quelques habitations de l'autre côté de la voie. Ce chemin est un cul-de-sac, autant dire que le trafic des véhicules est des plus faible néanmoins dans les années 60 une automobile s'est retrouvée happée(!) par la cabine montante et s'est retrouvée coincée entre les deux cabines du funiculaire!

The place of the level crossing today. Since the closing down of the funicular the track has been covered with asphalt. The level crossing was announced by a warning signpost (see below) and automatic trafic lights. A special noticeboard (see right and below) was also installed to inform about the danger of the crossing!

L'emplacement actuel du passage à niveau. Depuis la fermeture définitive du funiculaire la voie à été barrée et recouverte de bitume. A l'époque de son exploitation, et certainement après l'accident raconté plus haut, le passage à niveau était annoncé par le panneau de danger ci-dessous ainsi que par un panneau d'information (voir ci-contre et ci-dessous) et des feux de trafic automatiques!
