The funicular
(2)

Every
hour - and if there are enough passengers on request - you
can descend again to Skjeggedal. Although you are seated in
the car in the same position in both driving directions, descent
will be quite vertiginous. Stemming your boots against the
footrests you will await the ride above the daring knoll to
the steep gradient as a roller coasters passenger. Now seated
in the opposite car you will participate the doubtful joy
of a stop just at the steepest part of the line. |

The
rest of the journey will be quite relaxing. Especially the
last few metres at walking speed would induce to leave the
car and walk at the side of the line (which is of course not
allowed). |

The
derelict industrial centre of Odda.
Odda cannot conceal its industrial heritage. The centre of
town is a large factory, that is connected to the harbour
by a freight ropeway.
Now everything seems to be derelict. It will be interesting
to see, what will happen in the next years with this characteristic
(but not very beautiful) plant. In combination with the surrounding
parts of the town the former factory could be e.g. revitalized
for a public use. As some parts of the buildings (as well
as the ropeway) form a unique skyline it would be a loss if
they are demolished.
