The upper Station

The upper station is located at quite 1 km near the small hamlet of Les Planchettes at a height of 1000 meters.

This white building shelters the engine of the incline and it is also the real entrance of the power station located in the gorge of the Doubs.

The machine room with the 162 kW engine.

The huge drum (winch) which winds the 42 mm cable.

The cable winds 5 times around the drum and is guided by an alternative trolley visible in the foregroung of the picture.

The cog hub flange on the left of the drum is used to drive and the other hub flange, on the right, is a brake.

The controle center of the incline. The upper station which can be closed by a vertical door. The cabin is at the lower station. On the left of the picture, near the door, we can make out the snowplow which is removed from the cabin.
