The Chandoline Power Station was built in 1935 to receive the water of the first Dixence dam located in the Dix Valley. The water is brought thru an undergroung gallery from the Dix Lake to Thyon and then a pipeline plunges to the Chandoline Power Station with a 1600 meters fall! This difference of level was a world record for a power station pipeline.
Between Thyon and Chandoline, an incline cable railway runs alongside the 4680 meters length pipeline. Because of this extraordinary length, the cable railway was cut in three sections!
The cable railway was used to built the pipeline and today it is still in used for its maintenance.
Today only the two lower sections are used.
